Canadian Paraglider Found Dead in Himachal Pradesh

The body of a 27-year-old Canadian paraglider has been recovered in the Dhauladhar mountain range of Himachal Pradesh, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.

According to reports, Megan Elizabeth Roberts took off alone from Bir-Billing on Saturday. Search operations were initiated based on coordinates sent from her satellite phone.

Rescue teams managed to reach the crash site, located at an altitude of 13,000 feet, where they discovered her remains.

Shilpi Beikta, the additional district magistrate, stated that after a post-mortem at Tanda Medical College, Megan's body will be handed over to her family. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the accident.

Another Paraglider Rescued from the Same Mountain Range

In a separate incident, another stranded paraglider was rescued from the same mountain range. Jacob Kremer, an Austrian paraglider, was saved by a team from the Billing Paragliding Association (BPA) and local authorities near Dehanasar in the Chhota Bhangal area of Kangra.

Jacob had gone missing after taking off from Billing on Monday.

Officials reported that he was rescued with the assistance of a helicopter and was subsequently admitted to a hospital for medical evaluation.

Earlier this year in July, a 27-year-old resident from Gujarat, Satish, was seriously injured in a paragliding accident in the Dharamshala area of Kangra district. Additionally, in January, Bhavsar Khushi from Ahmedabad lost her life in a similar incident at the same paragliding site.
